Coastal Gateway Health Center, Inc. (CGHC) was formed as a non-profit entity in early 2022 to deliver healthcare services to the communities of Winnie, Stowell, Hamshire, Fannett, Nome, Bolivar Peninsula, and the surrounding communities. The health center is receiving startup funding for the project from the Winnie-Stowell Hospital District based on a feasibility study conducted in late-2021 that demonstrated a need for quality primary healthcare services in the area.
CGHC is planning to apply to participate with the Health Center Program, recognized and supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). A community health center is a community-based and patient-directed organization that delivers comprehensive, culturally competent, high-quality healthcare services to communities, including serving the most vulnerable community members. The health center will offer a sliding fee discount to qualified patients, as well as accept private insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare.
The new health center will begin initially by offering primary care services to anyone in the community, regardless of their ability to pay. As an integrated health care provider, CGHC will be developing and providing access to pharmacy services, integrated behavioral health and substance use disorder services, support services and specialty care and oral health services.
